Ever since I was a little girl I've always loved watching the Miss America pageant. Last night I was excited to get together with the other Miss Oklahoma dressing room hostesses (red coats) and some other friends to watch Miss Oklahoma, Betty Thompson, compete. We had a great time. We sat down for a wonderful dinner then headed to the living room just in time to watch the show. Each time they called "Miss Oklahoma" we all screamed really loud. We were so excited for Betty. The room was dead silent when there were only two left on stage...and Betty was one of them. We were all holding our breath just waiting for him to say the new Miss America is Miss Oklahoma...but the word Wisconsin came out instead. We all sat there shocked and saddened...but we were all so very proud of Betty. She did an awesome job competing, she looked amazing, and she made it as far as she possibly could have. She is going to walk away with a great deal of scholarship money, which is awesome!! Now I'm really looking forward to Miss Oklahoma 2012. My aunt, Joni, asked me to help work in the dressing room at Miss Oklahoma a few years ago. I love it, love it, love it. We have so much fun getting to know all the girls and helping them with whatever they need when getting ready. So it is exciting to see 'our' girl compete for Miss America. We are always backstage so we don't ever get to see an entire pageant. It's always fun to get together to watch it. Thanks to my aunt Tonya and uncle JoeJoe for hanging out with ZekeyPants so I could get some girl time! :)
