Dr. K's office and T-Ball

We got to Dr. K's office around 3:30pm this afternoon.  Zeke seems to know the drill by now.  He walked right in and sat down at the table and started working on a maze and coloring.  He was anxious to go in and see Dr. K and kept asking when he was coming out to see him.  The door opened and the lab tech was standing there.  Zeke said "You are the one that gives me a poke.  I want to see Dr. K."

He has such a great memory!!  We walked in and went into room 1.  The office was completely empty, no one in sight.  I was kinda wondering myself where Dr. K was...then realized that we were just getting lab work done today.  Boo.  Zeke was really nervous walking into the room.  He saw the needle, took a step back and asked the tech in a serious voice "what is that doing over there?" She told him he needed it today and immediately started crying and saying how he didn't want a poke he just wanted to see Dr. K.  I hate seeing my baby cry.  :(

The tech got him all situated on my lap.  Nurse Lauren held his right arm down, where they did took the blood, and I held down the left and his legs.  He started crying and getting nervous when he saw the needle getting closer to his arm.  Once it went into the skin he began screaming and crying for Dr. K.  It broke my heart.  It was over super fast.  He got a spider man band-aid when he was done.  Nurse Lauren told him how brave he was and let him pick out a toy from the toy bucket.  That made him feel a little better.  He chose a spiderman umbrella.  He was very proud of it!

After the lab was done, we were done.  I went into the hall and looked again for Dr. K, but nothing.  Nurse Lauren came back to give me our paperwork to checkout so I asked her about the results from the bone marrow.  Everything had come back and everything was normal...so that is great!!  However...we still don't know what on earth is going on.  That is the frustrating part.  She told me to give her a call in the morning to see what the lab results were and she would know by the results how far out to schedule the next appointment.  Good news...but no news really.
We were on our way to baseball this afternoon and my phone rang at 4:48pm.  The caller ID said 'Dr. Kirkpatrick.'  I got really excited and reached for the phone.  When I answered I was relieved to hear Dr. K's voice on the other end.  He told me that when Zeke had his bone marrow done his platelets were 1,300,000.  Today the results had already come back and were at 1,017,000.  He was very impressed by this 'huge', in his terms, drop in platelets.  Zeke's platelets have been between 1.4-1.3 million since December, so this was a big drop according to Dr.K.  That's good!!!  Prayers are getting answered!!  I pray they continue to drop.  He asked me how Z has been feeling.  As far as I can tell, he feels fine.  He said he wants him to continue on the 1/2 aspirin daily and wants to see him in 4 weeks.  I'm going to call in the morning and get that set up.  Thank you for your prayers...even though we don't know what is going on...his platelets are coming down and I know that is what you have been praying for, so thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

When we pulled into baseball this evening Zeke told me he wasn't going to be able to play because he got a really bad poke at Dr.K's office.  I was trying to convince him that his spiderman band-aid made him much faster and he would do a great job.  He didn't really fall for it.  They started out stretching.  Zeke didn't really want to have any part of it and saying he wanted to go to bed, but eventually joined the group.

He started off at Matt's station hitting the ball off the t.  He played for a little while, but it didn't last long.

When he was done he ran over to me because he wanted to take a picture.  Even though he should be practicing, I'm never going to turn down an opportunity to take a picture with my baby boy!

Tonight he really enjoyed throwing his glove in the air and catching it and going to the potty three times, and running down the fence seeing everyone who was there to watch him (nana, papa, Tonya, and JoeJoe).

I know it was a combination of him being tired, just coming from the doctor, and possible Kofi not being there working with him one on one.  After practice he asked Coach Chad if he could hit.  I don't know why he is interested in actually playing after practice is over...at least he is interested.  Coach Chad is great and let him.  He worked with him one-on-one for a little bit.

After t-ball we went to the new Hideaway Pizza at Tulsa Hills with Shae, Matt and Hudson.  We had a great evening with great friends to end the day.

Kofi called on FaceTime tonight but Zeke was already in bed asleep not feeling great.  I talked to him for a while.  We talked about how practice went.  I told him I thought he did a better job when Kofi was there working with the kids.   Zeke seemed to respond to that really well.  He said he would be at practice Saturday to help out with the kids, I know Zeke enjoys having his daddy there...so hopefully we will get more out of him next practice!!  Whatever is best for Zeke, right??!!  Now I just need my little ZekeyPants' platelets to go down, down, down!!!  :)

T-Ball Practice and Birthday Parties

I have been waiting for this day for a very long time...since I was pregnant and found out I was having a boy to be exact.  Today was Zeke's first day of T-Ball!!

We started the day off at Hudson's birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's.  Zeke always loves getting to go there especially if Hudson is going to be there.  He had a great time playing around on the games.  After playing around, all the kids ate pizza and had cake.  Right after the party we rushed home for a quick nap.  Seriously, it was about a 30 minute nap.  If you know anything about my son,  you know he loves his sleep.  By the time we needed to leave the house he was snoring.  I felt so bad waking him up but we needed to get to practice.

Games...
Pizza...
And Cake!
Practice started at 1pm and it was gorgeous outside.  Zeke's coach is Coach Chad and his wife Tori helps.  They both seem wonderful.  Guess who is on his team...Hudson!!  Zeke is so excited that they will be playing together...Shae and I are too!!  Their team is called the Outlaws.  They will be wearing a black shirt with either red or white letters, red belt and socks and white pants.  I need to stock up on some Oxy Clean!!  Kofi showed up just as it was time to go out onto the field.  Coach Chad asked if some of the dads would mind helping out.  Looks like we have a great group of parents...almost every dad was out there helping the kids out.  You can definitely tell this is Zeke's first time to play...Hudson on the other  hand is pretty good!!!  We had a great time watching the boys practice.  I can't wait to see them in their cute little uniforms!!!  They will be putting the boys names on the jersey and I picked #12 for Zeke...for no other reason then that's my favorite number.  :)

The boys are excited to meet their coach and team

Zeke has all of his practice gear and is ready to play

I love these two!!
Baseball was a great time.  However practice was going on the same time as my grandpa's 80th birthday party.  We decided to go straight over there since Zeke stayed late to hit around instead of going home to change.  Grandpa had a lot of family and friends come celebrate with him for his big day.  We spent most of the time in the backyard...it is much easier to keep Zeke outside then having him inside yelling and running around!! So, most of my pics are from outside.  :(
Yummy cake from Merritt's
This is the only pic I got of my grandpa for his party  :(

Nick helping Zeke out at the fire pit

Even though today was crazy busy with two birthday parties and Zeke's very first t-ball practice, we had a wonderful day!!  Nothing better then spending time with family and best friends.  :)
